The Presenters

Molly Voris
Health Benefit Exchange Project Manager, Washington State Health Care Authority

Molly Voris is the health benefit exchange project manager at the Washington State Health Care Authority. Molly manages the planning and design processes for Washington's insurance exchange, including policy development, stakeholder engagement and operational planning. In this capacity, Molly works closely with the Governor's office, state legislators, federal partners, and key organizations throughout the state to move toward a collaborative and robust exchange.

Prior to HCA, Molly was a program director at the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices where she oversaw the health reform implementation portfolio. Before NGA, Molly focused on Medicare policy issues at the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Molly has a master's degree in public health from the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services. She holds BAs in political science and Spanish from the College of Charleston in South Carolina.

Leonard H. Sorrin
Assistant General Counsel of Public Policy and Legislative Affairs, Premera

Leonard Sorrin is Assistant General Counsel of Public Policy and Director of Legislative Affairs for Premera. In this capacity, he focuses on public policy and legislative affairs for all Premera markets. Sorrin has also worked over the years on a wide range of regulatory and legislative matters in collaboration with the regulatory and legislative affairs teams at Premera. Sorrin is a member of the Premera PAC Board of Directors and the PremeraCares Executive Committee. Sorrin will succeed Jack McRae as Premera's head of Congressional and Legislative Affairs upon McRae's retirement. His transition to that position is underway and will be completed on July 1, 2012.

With over 25 years experience as a senior operations executive, business adviser and entrepreneur, I have a broad business background and expertise in leadership and management issues. Whether clients want to grow their business, sell it or improve their work/life balance, my passion is identifying, developing and most importantly executing innovative and practical strategies to meet their personal and business objectives.

David J. Flores
Vice President, Trustmark Life Insurance Company

Mr. David J. Flores is employed at Trustmark Life Insurance Company in the position of Vice President since December 2004. He heads the company's sales efforts to employer groups with 51 to 99 employees. He joined Trustmark in 1999 as Director of Sales for the Individual Medical Division and Starmark subsidiary, and has served in positions of increasing responsibility. Mr. Flores earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University.

Tyson Fuehrer was business development manager at Gentech Dentist Healthcare before coming to Polestar Benefits. His specialties include third party administrator (TPA) and general agency (GA) management; as well as healthcare sales, insurance marketing, continuing education seminar and professional organization training. Dr. Amar Desai
Vice President of Clinical Operations and Medical Affairs, Paladina Health

Dr. Desai received his BA in Public Policy from Brown University, MD from Brown Medical School and Masters in Public Health from Harvard University. He completed his residency and fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, before becoming a Fellow in the Center for Health Policy and Primary Care Outcomes Research at Stanford University. He was later appointed Adjunct Clinical Instructor at the Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. Desai is currently Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and treats patients at the West Los Angeles VA Health System. He has published papers on health policy, quality improvement and health information technology in numerous peer-reviewed journals.

David Kimmet
President, REHN & Associates

David Kimmet is President and one of the owners of Rehn & Associates. He was born and raised in Spokane, Washington, where he currently resides with his wife and two boys. He graduated from Whitworth College, sum cum laude, with a bachelor degree in organizational management.

David has been with Rehn & Associates since January, 2002. His beginning responsibilities were centered in the development of the firm's Section 125 Cafeteria plans, Health Reimbursement Arrangements and COBRA. Since then, he has become an administrative agent for each of the Taft Hartley Trust clients the firm services. In addition, he remains the point of contact for all new clients and ongoing client relationships.

Misha Palecek
President of Direct Primary Care, DaVita, Inc.

Misha Palecek serves as President of Direct Primary Care at DaVita Inc. DaVita®, a Fortune 500® company, is a leading provider of kidney care in the United States, delivering dialysis services to patients with chronic kidney failure and end stage renal disease.

Mr. Palecek joined DaVita in 2005 as director of business planning. In that role, he focused on driving strategy, growth and operational excellence reporting directly to the CEO. Between 2008 and 2010, he served as regional operations director, group regional operations director and divisional vice president, leading operations and growth planning for a growing portfolio of dialysis facilities on the West Coast. In 2010, Mr. Palecek became group vice president responsible for over 120 dialysis facilities in Northern California as well as overseeing Davita's national strategy, operations, and vendor relationships for Home Dialysis.
